The Pose

This is National Poetry Month, so, I am going to try to write some poems this month. I wrote this one today.

The Pose

Push this button,
look right there.
My face is young,
and, it’s beautiful.
I’ve got 700 followers.
She’s got only six.
I must be doing something right.
I never sleep.
Life’s too short for that.
I’ve got to keep it going.
No time for me to think.
My eyes stare into the screen
without blinking.
It’s my world.
If you’re a part of it, you’ll see.
I call it fun because I’m hungry.
I’m hungry to connect.
Feed me more, feed me more.
I can never get enough.
“There, how do I look?”
It’s going viral,
like a disease.
There is no vaccine
that can defeat it.
I’m striking another pose.
My smile hides my empty shell.
I feel no pain, I feel no fear.
I feel no joy,
except when you “like” me.
And, that moment fades so fast.
Don’t you all wish you were me?
I will PM you a secret.
“I wish I were anyone else but me…”
